Ambulance Response Times Worst in Province Vaughan Ontario As a long time GTA resident I am dismayed by the breakdown in common sense and civility that has occurred in the last few years. Perhaps we could improve the response times for all emergency teams if motorists didn't try to race with approaching vehicles but simply pulled over as these emergency drivers expect. Simply stopping on the spot is not smart either and I see this frequently.

According to news sources the problems are also related to low morale and poor management. Mississauga has had to run a deficit for the first time in generations and some of this shortfall has infiltrated emergency response budgets. As a person who may oneday require a fast trip to the hospital I am hoping we are not still discussing this but have long ago solved it.

Blame the response time on the hospitals. Emergency crews race to hospitals, and then get tied up for hours as they can't leave till someone from the hospital takes over their patient, and that can take hours in some cases. That's why morale is low, paramedics know the system isn't working, and there's little they can do about it.

We are all part of this system. I want to work 30 hours a week and get paid $5,000 for it. Maybe if we all re-evaluate our needs we could help take pressure off the system by living with happier but lower expectations. I know paramedics are stressed but so are the few remaining garment workers making $11 per hour and supporting a family of 6. Look at our lives, we are lazy and spoiled rotten and still we want more.
