I don't understand what is going on with this city. There was another shooting this morning at 1am near The West Mall. Apparently the man is in stable condition but was found with wounds to his chest, torso and arm. Police are looking for a dark, four-door Cadillac. How am I supposed to feel safe in this city?

As long as our justice system keeps letting these killers back onto the streets, you shouldn't feel safe.

These poor boys needed a father when they were children. They needed opportunity in legitimate work places and they need to feel respected so that they can respect themselves and stop this terrble, bad behaviour. When the people that you respect all have guns and brag about using them....duh!!!

Everybody has choices. What about those people who grew up in the same lifestyle and actually made something of themselves. These boys are showing signs of pure laziness, and they could not bother putting effort into anything. They take the easy root which is drugs and gangs and for that they should all be locked up!

I'm starting to realize why 'these boys' have no hope. Because they are poor and have insufficient parental supervision (due to their parent(s) working long hours to provide them with "bullet money") they must be lazy. It's all clear now. A kid with no life skills should take a job washing dishes for $8.75 an hour when his peers are making $1000 per day selling crack to the local losers. Keep your families together. Don't create more children you can't look after and lets put more tax money into social programs that give people hope for their futures. Duh!

I know of quite a few families where both parents are together and working, and one kid is in a gang and has been involved with police on many occasions. These parents are great people and very caring, yet their son has strayed. It has nothing to do with where he lives, but it has everything to do with the way "gangsters" are glorified just about everywhere.

If children do not have peer group in their family, they go to peer group or family outside their home. The social structure of a gang provides community wherein individuals gain significant others who provide them yardsticks of measure for their daily lives. In other words, if you cannot stay home to take care of your children to some reasonable degree, you should not be allowed to have them because you only contribute to social dysfunction and force society to pay for more cops. Be there or be square. Crazy Jack

This is a sad time in our city. Our youth are feeling so lost and hopeless. Yes, they have chosen to walk this destructive path. But why? What is going on in the life of these youth to make them feel little to no regard for another human life? I believe the ripple effect that this is causing is larger than we know and will affect this city for years.
